Stroke frequently damages the area of the brain controlling movement; as a consequence there are thousands of people with weakness down one side of their body. The brain can relearn control of the weak arm, but this needs daily therapy sessions over many months.
We have developed a library of video games which not only provide effective rehabilitation but are also fun and challenging to play. Danny (67 years old) said, “I had never played video games before or even used a computer but I surprised myself by picking it up quickly and even beating my therapist.”
These games will be available for download from 2013 via the internet and can be played at home, on holiday or at work – anywhere when you have the time and inclination. The more often you play the faster you will see results.
The games can played on PCs, laptops and tablet computers but require motion sensing controllers. The games can also be played on modern TVs by connecting the computer with an HDMI cable, and because the game graphics are in high definition (HD) they look fantastic on HD screens.
